Growing Sussex is a collaborative initiative bringing together Commercial Growers, Education Partners, Growers’ Associations, Technology Implementation Providers, and Strategic and Investment Partners. These organisations are working together to integrate 5G, AI, and IoT technologies, aiming to enhance sustainable food production and drive economic growth in Sussex. 

By pooling expertise and resources, the partners plan to develop innovative solutions, build a skilled workforce, and create scalable models. This ongoing collaboration is essential to realising Growing Sussex’s vision of a future of high-tech, sustainable food, drink and plant production.

Wicks Farm is passionate about growing fresh food inspired by the produce and the people who grow it.
WEST SUSSEX GROWERS' ASSOCIATION
The West Sussex Growers Association is a specialist horticultural branch of the National Farmers' Union which represents both ornamental plant and edible crop growers around the Chichester area.

Complementing educational government initiatives, Growing Sussex supports the implementation of foundational technologies in educational growing settings.

BRINSBURY COLLEGE
Brinsbury College's delivery of Government T-Levels increases the digital skills of their students, supporting them to develop career pathways in data analysis and management, as well as the application of technologies to support the sustainable intensification of food production.
PLUMPTON COLLEGE
Plumpton College's well established curriculum offers foundational, BA and Masters' degrees in viticulture, wine business and wine production.
UNIVERSITY OF BRIGHTON
The University of Brighton's Robotics and Automation Programme accelerates the deployment and uptake of commercial stage game-changing agile robots with AI to find solutions of some of the serious practical challenges faced in the sectors.

Synergy from these partners will enable a commercially viable model that encourages future investment by suppliers.

BOLDYN NETWORKS
Boldyn Networks, a leader in shared networks infrastructure, will design and build four high-bandwidth private 5G networks across two grower sites and participating colleges, to pilot cutting-edge technologies such as automation and real-time remote control and monitoring.
ARCHIPELAGOS LABS
Archipelagos Labs provide a comprehensive view of operations, customer behaviour, and system performance. Their devices contribute to real time analysis at scale, enabling swift, strategic decisions.
Strategic Oversight

West Sussex County Council secured funding from the Government’s Department of Science, Innovation and Technology to launch an innovative initative called Growing Sussex. 

Growing Sussex 5G Innovation Region will create a model of 5G adoption that is repeatable in growing sector locations across the UK in ‘real life’ growing environments, enabling British Growers to produce food and drink more efficiently and sustainably, in line with the Government’s Food Strategy.

DEPARTMENT FOR SCIENCE, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY.
DSIT has awarded more than £36 million for the successful 5G Innovation Regions projects, which aim to drive innovative applications powered by 5G from proof of concept to widespread adoption.
WEST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
West Sussex County Council leads this initiative within the Sussex area catalysing change within the sector accelerating digital transformation and modernising food, wine and plant production.
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
East Sussex County Council presents fertile ground for growers and education centres to adopt foundational technologies in the sustainable intensification of food and drink products, helping to deliver the government’s Food Strategy objectives
